We didn’t give Bobrisky Best dressed female award – Nollywood actress confesses amid backlash

Nigerian filmmaker and actress, Eniola Ajao, has cried out to Nigerians amid the backlash generated by an action at the premier of her movie, ‘Ajanaku: Beast of Two Worlds.

At the event, which held on Sunday, controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, was named the best dressed female.

This did not go down well with many Nigerians who vowed to boycott movies that the actress features in.

Taking to TikTok live, Eniola begged Nigerians to have a change of mind.

In a short video from the live section making the rounds online, the filmmaker stated that she didn’t want to be in debt as she had sold off her properties to finance the project.

She said Bobrisky was only announced as the award winner to generate buzz for her film.

In the emotional video, she said: “Tell everybody to go out for me, don’t let me be in debt, I don’t have anything. All I had was what I put into this project. Please support me in the name of God, I don’t come out to do clout or stunt. It’s because of this film, I was thinking of how I will sell the film, so I used Bobrisky.

“I don’t want to dwell too much on that, I plead with Nigerians in the name of God, help me go out. This is a film that the whole industry came out to watch and they gave good reviews.

“It’s a film that I can be boastful about and walk with my heads up, but at the same time I need to beg you guys in the name of God. Please, it was just a stunt, no award was given to anybody. No award was given to Bobrisky.”

Ajao has acted in over 75 films.

She is known for her dynamism and versatility on set in her role delivery.

Her first film role was in 2004 where she was cast in the film ‘Ìgbà Aìmọ̀’.
