Bobrisky pleads guilty to Naira abuse charge

Popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, famously known as Bobrisky, pleaded guilty yesterday to charges of naira abuse, following the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) filing of six counts against him on Thursday.

Before the indictment was read to the defendant, the EFCC’s prosecuting counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, petitioned the court to strike out counts five and six (money laundering accusations) and arraign him on counts one through four.

As a result, Justice Abimbola Awogboro threw out counts 5 and 6.

Bobrisky was later charged with counts one through four, to which he pleaded guilty. When asked if he understood the charges presented to him, he responded, Yes, I am guilty.”

Earlier on Thursday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission filed six counts of money laundering and naira misuse against Bobrisky.

The crossdresser, who had been detained by the EFCC since Wednesday night, was unable to meet the administrative bail provided on Thursday.
