The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says recovery operations at the site of its crashed ATR 42-500 aircraft, NAF 931, in Igbokoda, Ondo State, have entered their 14th day.
In a statement on Monday in Abuja, the NAF director of public relations and information, Ehimen Ejodame, said continuous pumping had significantly reduced the water level at the site.
He said the team was working to remove most of the remaining water, subject to prevailing conditions, while reinforcing the embankment with sandbags to prevent collapse and maintain stability.
Ejodame said the operation required sustained engineering and dewatering efforts under challenging conditions.
He quoted the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, as commending the recovery personnel and partner agencies, particularly Hitech Construction Company, for supporting the operation.
Aneke commended the team’s resilience and professionalism and reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to completing the recovery safely and supporting the ongoing aircraft crash investigation.
He also expressed condolences to the bereaved families, acknowledging their pain and anguish.
