The vice-presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Lawal Daura, has described Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as the most competent and credible presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
Daura made the declaration on Saturday while receiving leaders of the Northern Patriotic Front (NPF) at the party’s presidential campaign headquarters in Abuja.
He said Makinde’s record in public office, business experience and vision for national development set him apart from other presidential hopefuls.
Daura said a Makinde-Daura administration would operate as a four-year transitional government of national unity, focused on reforming Nigeria’s economy, education system, security architecture and socio-political environment.
He urged voters to look beyond ethnic and religious considerations and assess candidates based on their records and management of public resources.
Daura said Makinde had established himself as a successful businessman with considerable financial experience before entering politics.
“I throw a challenge that anyone who is still doubting whether our candidate is the most competent to be elected as president should examine his antecedents and performance,” he said.
He added that Nigeria needed leaders who would be accountable for their stewardship and move the country away from past governance failures.
The NPF President, Ali Abacha, pledged the support of northern political stakeholders for the APM ticket.
Abacha said the region identified with Makinde’s “Reset Nigeria” message and supported the proposed four-year transitional administration.
He also praised Daura’s inclusion as the vice-presidential candidate, describing him as a respected security expert and expressing confidence in the ticket’s ability to address insecurity.
