2026 WCQ: FIFA names new officials for Benin Republic vs Super Eagles

FIFA on Wednesday named a new officiating team for the 2026 World Cup qualifying match between the Benin Republic and Nigeria.

The encounter is scheduled for the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny on Monday, June 10, 2024.

The Ethiopian referee, Bamlak Tessema Weyesa, was originally scheduled to officiate the game.

Weyesa has now been replaced by a Gabonese official, Pierre Ghislain Atcho.

Weyesa’s compatriots, Temesgin Samuel Atango and Tigle Gizaw Belachew, are retained as Assistant Referee 1 and Assistant Referee 2 respectively.

Another Ethiopian, Tewodros Mitiku, earlier designated as the fourth official, has been replaced by Cameroonian Antoine Max Effa Essouma.

The originally designated referee assessor, match commissioner, and security officer retain their places for the matchday four encounter.
