PDP ward exco in Rivers suspends pro-Fubara rep member

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ngor, Ward 1, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, has suspended the member representing Andoni/Opobo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Awaji-Inombek Abiante.

The suspension was announced in a resolution read to journalists after a meeting of PDP leaders and stakeholders held at the Ward 1 office of the party in Ngor on Monday evening.

Abiante is one of the federal lawmakers in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly loyal to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The resolution, signed by the PDP CTC Ward Chairman in Andoni LGA, Dike Bara, and CTC Ward Secretary, Dokubo Jackson, along with 12 other executives, was unanimously adopted by the ward’s party leaders and stakeholders.

Reading the resolution to journalists, the PDP CTC Chairman of Ngor, Ward 1 in Andoni LGA, Bara, stated that Abiante’s suspension was due to anti-party activities, including creating factions within the party and unauthorized publicity of disputes. He also accused the federal lawmaker of establishing a parallel party organ at the ward level, among other offenses.

Abiante, a strong supporter of Governor Fubara, led a solidarity protest in support of Fubara’s administration in December last year.
