Gombe title holder loses 6 family members in road crash

A traditional title holder in Gombe Emirate, Maidalan Gombe, Alhaji Ahmad Abubakar, on Sunday, lost six members of his family in a motor accident along the Azare-Gombe road.

 Daily Trust learned that the deceased were returning from Azare town in Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State when the accident occurred near Misau LGA of Bauchi State.

Maidalan Gombe’s daughter, Zainab, and her son, Ahmad as well as Ahmad Muhammad and Na’ima Muhammad, children of his (Maidala’s) brother, Muhammad D.O., and two others were all killed in the road crash.

The funeral prayer for the deceased was held yesterday at the Gombe Emir’s Palace and was attended by the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya and thousands of other sympathisers.

Meanwhile, Governor Yahaya has described the loss as devastating.

 In a condolence message issued by his spokesman, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the governor said, “Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt for the immense grief you and your loved ones are experiencing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers as you pass through this heartbreaking time,” he said.

Our correspondent reports that the remains of the deceased were buried at Gombe Central cemetery along Gombe-Bajoga road after a funeral prayer led by the Chief Imam of Gombe, Sheikh Muhammad Umar Pindiga.
