43-year-old herder killed in Plateau

A 43-year-old herder, Abubakar Sa’id, has been killed in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The deceased, according to the leadership of the Fulani communities in the area, was attacked in Kop Mandarken community in Bokkos District of Bokkos LGA while on his way to his house.

The killing of Sa’id occurred five days after a 17-year-old herder, Abdulhamid Ahmad, was stabbed to death by yet-to-be-identified hoodlums in Mbar community of Bokkos LGA.

Daily Trust reports that there have been series of killings across Bokkos since the Christmas eve attacks, where more than 190 people were murdered.

Gaba Abdullahi, chairman of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN), who confirmed the latest incident, said they had informed Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), the security task force maintaining peace in the area, about the incident.

Narrating how the incident occurred, the chairman said ” The deceased was on his way to the house on Monday when some hoodlum attacked him. On Tuesday, We found him lying on the ground but was still breathing. We quickly rushed him Dung Hospital in New Layout in Bokkos but moment later he died.”

Abdullahi, while appreciating efforts of security agencies, however, asked them investigate isolated killings in area.

Spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven, Captain Oya James, is yet to respond to inquiry by our correspondent.
