2027: Lagos APC reaffirms target of five million votes for Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has reaffirmed its target of securing five million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

The state APC chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, said the target must guide the party’s planning, resource allocation, mobilisation and performance assessment.

Mr Ojelabi spoke at a retreat organised by the PBAT-KOH Campaign Council, where he urged party members to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and engage voters to achieve the target of five million votes out of an estimated seven million in Lagos.

“Our electoral target is clear and ambitious: five million votes out of the seven million votes we are targeting in Lagos State,” Ojelabi said.

“This is not a figure to be repeated merely for its political appeal. It must become a measurable objective that informs our planning, resource allocation, mobilisation strategy and performance assessment.”

He said he believed the target is attainable because of the APC’s “extensive grassroots structures, established political networks, committed membership and enduring presence across Lagos State.”

He also announced “Operation Deliver Your Polling Unit,” an accountability initiative aimed at ensuring that elected officials, political appointees and party leaders mobilise voters within their respective polling units.

The APC national chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, called for unity among party members, urging them to resolve internal disputes and work together ahead of the 2027 elections.

Mr Yilwatda acknowledged that the party lost Lagos in the last election and urged members to strengthen its structures and promote Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The campaign council’s Director-General, Musiliu Obanikoro, also urged party members to prioritise collective interests and resolve disagreements through dialogue.

Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, the APC’s Lagos governorship candidate, outlined the seven pillars of his PROMISE agenda at the event.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, members of the Governance Advisory Council and other party stakeholders attended the retreat.
