The vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, said on Thursday that only “mad” Nigerians will vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
“I read on social media that it is in 2027 that we will know how many madmen we have in Nigeria,” Amaechi said during the ADC town hall meeting in Edo. “It is only a madman that can vote for Tinubu.”
“If you are not mad, then Tinubu should not win here,” he added.
Amaechi, the transportation minister under the late former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, described Tinubu’s reforms as reckless.
“There is a difference between courage and recklessness. Tinubu wasn’t courageous; he was reckless,” Amaechi said.
He urged Nigerians not to vote for the president in the general election, citing hardship occasioned by Tinubu’s economic policies.
Amaechi also noted the rising cost of living and Nigerians’ inability to afford basic amenities.
“People are not able to feed. Things are difficult,” he said.
