TETFUND: VC bemoans non-inclusion of private universities

The Vice-Chancellor, Trinity University, Professor Clement Kolawole has bemoaned the exclusion of private universities from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND.

Prof. Kolawole made this known while fielding questions from newsmen after the presentation of a stage play, themed: Campus Flaws, organised by the institution in conjunction with Etiquette Poise & Protocol Resource.

He stressed that both private and public universities have a common goal of instilling and empowering students for the national development of the country. 

“The students in private universities are firstly Nigerians and what TETFUND represents is the commonwealth of Nigeria, so it should get to everyone.

 “So, already we feel that we are discriminated against because we don’t have access but the argument is understandable because it was started by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU and now it has become a general thing that everybody is keying into,” he said. 

He explained that the fund would augment the financial demand from private universities to build educational infrastructure and carry out research that helps the national development of the country.
