Senator Goje distributes free fertiliser for dry season farming

Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, representing Gombe Central Senatorial District, at the weekend, flagged off the distribution of 7, 690 bags of fertiliser free to farmers in his constituency.

Flagging off the distribution, Goje explained that the beneficiaries include stakeholders at zonal, local governments, wards and 869 political units, women and youth groups, as well as dry season farmers across Akko and Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Areas of the Gombe central zone.

Represented by his aide, Alhaji Abubakar Adamu, the senator said each of the stakeholders from the two LGAs would receive eight bags each.

He added that, each stakeholder from the 22 political wards would get four bags each and each committee member from the 869 units of the two LGAs would receive a bag each.

According to him, 150 bags will be distributed to each of the Social Media Groups in Gombe, Akko, and Yamaltu/Deba LGAs.

“We have purchased over 12 trucks of fertiliser totalling about 7, 690 bags which we will distribute free to our constituents. The gesture is meant to bring succour to them for the dry season farming, especially with the current skyrocketing price of commodities.

“This gesture was out of Senator Goje’s desire to empower our people economically. This was aimed at assisting farmers, especially the dry season farmers in order to be self-reliant in food production and also contribute to the economy,” he explained.

Adamu re-emphasised that the fertilisers were given out free of charge to the beneficiaries in the Gombe central zone, the senatorial district Goje is representing, irrespective of party affiliation.

The aide added that, Senator Goje has also distributed 300 bags of rice, 300 jerrycans of vegetable oil, 300 jerrycans of palm oil and 600 pieces of yards for both men and women, to Christian community in Gombe community in Gombe central zone, in the spirit of yuletide celebrations.
