Saudi Arabia donates food items to 7,000 Borno, Yobe IDPs

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre has donated food relief materials to over 7,000 vulnerable people displaced by the Boko Haram crisis in Borno and Yobe states.
The flag-off of the distribution has already been carried out by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the items handed over to both Borno State Emergency Management Agency and that of Yobe State respectively.
At the official presentation in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Disaster Management, Alhaji Musa Bungudu, who represented the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the gesture.
He extended the gratitude of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ebraheem Alghamedi flagged off the distribution of the food items to the 3,972 vulnerable households expected to benefit from the items in Borno State.
A similar event also took place yesterday in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital where the Deputy Director of Planning NEMA, Hajiya Fatima Kassim who represented the Director-General of NEMA Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Mohammadu Alhaji Mohamed (rtd) supervised the distribution of the items meant for the IDPs in Yobe State.
According to her, the items were meant to cushion the effect of Boko Haram crisis on the people.
The items donated included food basket which contained a package of semovita, vegetable oil, maggi, rice, beans, masa products, and tomatoes, among others.
