Ramadan: NASFAT tasks Muslims to deepen prayers for Nigeria

The Nasrul-lahi-l-fatih-Society (NASFAT) Tuesday asked Nigerians to deepen their supplications to Allah for the country in all ramifications.

The Chief Missioner of NASFAT, Sheikh Abdulazeez Onike, who stated this in Abuja when he delivered a special Ramadan lecture, told the gathering that Nigeria is a country blessed with much potential which should be harnessed both physically and spiritually.

On his part, the Chairman, Federal Capital Territory zone of NASFAT, Dr Nasir Olaitan Raji-Mustapha, noted that it was expedient for Muslims to detach themselves from evils in the month of Ramadan and beyond.

Speaking earlier, a former Managing Director of Daily Trust and chairman of the NASFAT Agency for Zakat and Sadakat (NAZAS), Alh. Ishaq Ajibola, disclosed that the agency received N134.5million from well-meaning Nigerians as Zakat last year (2023).

He revealed that N112.1 million has been disbursed to 459 beneficiaries including the release of 15 prison inmates convicted of civil offences at the Nigerian Correctional Facility in Keffi, Nasarawa State, where fines and compensation of about N500,000 were settled.

NAZAS boss also said the agency paid the sum of N622,000 as the Parent-Teacher Association levy for 311 indigent students of Jabi Primary School in Abuja, adding that about 60,000 indigent others had benefitted through various intervention schemes.
