Police Nab Another Kidnapper In Abuja

Men of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have apprehended a suspected kidnapper at Sauka village, Abuja.

Haruna Garba, the FCT Commissioner of Police, disclosed this to journalists, adding that a kidnapped victim was also rescued.

The police boss the operatives from Iddo Division were alerted via a distress call that some assailants driving a black colour Toyota Corolla fired the tyres of a moving Prado Jeep belonging to one Suleiman Sabo.

According to Garba, Sabo, who was going to his house in Sabon Lugbe, was stopped and bundled into the kidnappers’ vehicle, leaving his wife in his Prado Jeep.

However, the policemen traced the suspected abductor, ran after him and got him arrested in Abuja, according to Garba.

“The effort paid off on January 21 when the DPO received information that something abnormal was happening in a particular house at Sauka village.

“The DPO moved in and cordoned the house, behold the kidnapped victim was found with the suspect, armed with Mark IV riffle and 10 rounds of live ammunition.

“He was promptly arrested and the arm was recovered from him. The victim was rescued but with gunshot injuries,” Garba said.

Garba also said there has been no report of kidnapping in the Bwari area of Abuja since the inauguration of the Special Intervention Squad.

He claimed that all the routes known to be used by the bandits have been discovered, adding that several arms and ammunition were recovered, including vehicles taken away from victims.

For several weeks past, the FCT has been at the mercy of bandits who were kidnapping Nigerians for ransom, and killing as well.
