Pastor abducted in Niger, N60m ransom demanded

Gunmen have abducted a pastor in Niger State.

Reverend Yohanna Gyang Bitrus, the pastor of Shiyona Baptist Church in Ugwan Saye, Rafi Local Government area, was abducted Thursday afternoon, The Nation learnt.

Sources said the gunmen stormed the community, went directly to the pastor’s residence and took him away.

It was learnt that they did not enter any other house in the community, although they shot into the air to scare people away.

A few hours after the pastor was abducted, a source close to the family said the abductors had got in touch with them demanding N60 million.

The Nation was told that the clergyman’s family is at their wits end, not knowing what to do or how to raise the ransom.

Police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun when contacted said he will get back to the Report when he gets details about the incident.
