Oyo Police rescue three abducted women

Oyo State Police Command has rescued three people abducted recently at Onipe village along Ibadan-Ijebu Ode road, Oluyole local government area, Ibadan.

The three abductees Adebayo Abosede, Bola Ogunrinde and Okeowo Theresa were abducted on Monday, April 12.

Confirming their release in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Oyo Command, Adewale Osifeso, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said their release was as a result of pressure and meaningful intelligence from Police along with effective utilisation of local hunters and vigilantes.

He recounted the combined team of Police and local search team had earlier combed the suspected location in search of the abductees before recording the breakthrough.

A source, who was privy to how the women regained their freedom, said they were rescued by police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Idi Ayunre Division around 9am close to a fish company, by a bush at Ogunmakin community.

Mrs. Okeowo, a teacher in a secondary school in Ogun State, was said to have been given a ride by Mrs. Ogunrinde, a Master Warrant Officer along with Mrs. Adebayo, a dentist also in Ogun State, when they were kidnapped on Monday, April 12.

Mrs. Adebayo, said to be a mother of two, is still nursing a baby when she was abducted.

Another unconfirmed source said that after pressure was mounted on the kidnappers by the police as they were being trailed in the bush, they decided to collect an undisclosed amount as ransom and showed their victims the path they could take to get close to help.

The source said that the victims were unkempt and tired when found by the police.
