Nurses to begin warning strike in Ondo

The Ondo State chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has directed its members to begin a three day warning strike over the payment of half salary by the Ondo state government.
Activities at state government owned hospital have been paralysed since February 2 when doctors in the employ of the state government embarked on indefinite strike.
Many families have removed their loved ones from State hospitals to private clinic for medical care.
A letter dated February 26 directed the Nurses to begin the warning strike from 12am on Monday, March 1st to Wednesday March 3rd, 2021.

State Secretary of NANNM, Comrade Aina Emmanuel Oluwasegun, who signed the letter said the warning strike followed failure by the state government to respond to the seven days ultimatum given to it.
He said the union demanded the state government to “Pay 100% salary of January 2017, December 2020, January 2021, 20% balance of December 2016, 50% November 2020 and commencement of New Salary Adjustment for Local Government Nurses within seven working days.
“The Association also lamented shortage of nurses in all government’s hospitals, obsolete nursing tools to work with, which are leading to braindrain in nursing service of hospital management board.”
