NNPC Foundation treats 1,000 FCT residents

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Foundation, yesterday treated over 1,000 FCT residence in Garki village in Abuja.

Daily Trust on Sunday reports that patients were treated for malaria, hypertension, diabetes and some other non-communicable diseases.

Speaking at the event, the managing director of NNPC Foundation, Mrs Emmanuella Arukwe, said the event was part of their social responsibility to the FCT residents, especially that the NNPCL is having its headquarters in Abuja.

She said that many people in the FCT, especially the vulnerable, did not know they have one or other ailments that needed medical attention until they were diagnosed at the free medical outreach.

“Many of those diagnosed by medical personnel have non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes, malaria, eye problems. Those with eye-related issues are more.

“More people have eye issues. This is why we gave free glasses to them after the tests. We also de-wormed children five years below,” Arukwe said.

She also said the foundation gave insecticide-treated mosquito nets, while the young women were given sanitary towels.

She urged beneficiaries to go to the primary health care and other medical facilities for follow-up treatment whenever the need arises.
