JUST IN: Govs meet in Aso Rock to address insecurity

Members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) have scheduled an emergency meeting for 8pm on Wednesday at the State House Conference Centre, Aso Rock Abuja to deliberate on ways to address the nation’s security challenge.

NGF’s spokesman, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, said the meeting, which will be the first physical meeting by members, since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, has security as the sole item on the agenda.

Some members of the NGF, including Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi,  Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Bello Matawalle of Zamfara and Abubakar Sanni of Niger, visited Shasha Market in Ibadan to assess the destruction at the scene of the clash between Yoruba and Hausa communities.

NGF’s Chairman and Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi is expected to speak on the outcome of the meeting later tonight.
