Go after blackmailers of NNPCL, Kyari, CSOs t

A coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on Saturday urged the Department of State Services (DSS) and the police to take action against those it called blackmailers of the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari.

The coalition, through its leader, Comrade Declan Ihekaire, said the allegations against Kyari and the NNPCL had been investigated by the National Assembly and that nothing incriminating was found against them.

Daily Trust on Sunday recalls that a group had raised allegations of missing 48 million barrels of crude oil, which it asked the NNPCL to account for.

But the coalition described as “phantom” the alleged missing crude, saying, “For the records, the National Assembly which is saddled with legitimate investigation of all MDAs has investigated the phantom missing 48 million barrels of crude oil.

“We want to emphasise that we, as a coalition, stand firmly against any form of corruption or misconduct within public and private institutions. However, the appropriate channels for addressing such concerns are through established legal processes, not through coercion, blackmail or extortion.”
