First Lady lauds first female Nigerian graduate at UK military academy

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commended Princess Oluchukwu Owowoh for being the  first female Nigerian graduate of the  Royal Military Academy in the United Kingdom.

Speaking when she received Owowoh in her office, the first lady said as a woman who had made a mark in a male-dominated field, her determination and resilience were quite remarkable and she was an inspiration to the youths.

Senator Tinubu, who noted the sterling performances of 24-year-old Owowoh, said the officer remained a good example of the great feats Nigerian youth could achieve.

She also thanked the Nigerian Army for giving 2nd Lt Owowoh the opportunity even in the male-dominated field.

In her remarks, the wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, Mrs Oghogho Musa, pointed out that the training and graduation of Owowoh was a testament of improved female inclusion in the country.

The Commandant of the Nigeria Defence Academy, Maj. Gen O. J. Ochai, explained that Owowoh was the best of the 200 selected cadets from the NDA.

He said the officer excelled in three areas which were, academics, military subjects and physical fitness.

She also received the prestigious Sandhurst Medal after the likes of Sir Winston Churchill, Prince Williams of Wales and Former head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.
