Akeredolu spoke truth to power – Gov Aiyedatiwa

The Ondo State governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has described his late principal and former governor of the state, Rotimi Akeredolu, as a great man who took all the risks to serve the people of the state and humanity.

Aiyedatiwa recalls that the former governor took an unusual sacrifice which was considered as a ‘suicide mission’ when he rallied his colleagues in the Southwest to form the regional security outfit, Amotekun Corps.

The governor spoke on Thursday at a commendation service held at the state sports complex in Akure as part of the activities lined up for the burial rites of the late Akeredolu.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu among other important personalities is expected today to grace the funeral service for the former late governor of Ondo State.

Daily Trust learnt that the event billed to be held at St Andrews Church, Imola, in the late governor’s hometown of Owo, would be followed by interment after the burial service at the burial site.

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) and governor of Kwara State, is expected to lead the state governors to the funeral service.

On Wednesday, the incumbent governor and the residents of the state paid glowing tributes to the late former governor.

Speaking at the brief lying-in-state programme at the Alagbaka governor’s office in Akure, the state capital, Aiyedatiwa said his late principal was a man of letters, learning, finesse and culture who achieved success before he died.
