Police refute alleged killing, abduction of FCT residents by gunmen

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has denied reports making the rounds that armed men attacked Galadimawa, killing and abducting some residents.

There were reports that gunmen terrorizing parts of the nation’s capital abducted 19 residents of Galadimawa area of the city and killed 12 of the victims.

Barrister Chris Agidy, an aide to a serving Senator, Ned Nwoko, was, according to the report, among the abductees.

However, a statement issued and made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, claimed that after thorough investigation, the report was proved to be false.

She said, “Following a careful examination of the allegations, it was clearly established that these claims are false and misleading, showing an intention, either deliberately or not, to misguide and instill fear in the public.

“The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba psc, which to assure the residents of Galadimawa and indeed the entire FCT that the Command has deployed tactical and robust intelligence apparatus to ensure security of life and property.

“While urging residents to remain vigilant, CP Haruna warns those spreading fake and baseless reports to desist from doing so. He stressed that this misinformation only serves to distort the prevailing peace and tranquility enjoyed by the residents of FCT.”
