Police arrest 3 suspected cultists linked to kidnapping in Delta communities

The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspected cultists who are linked to kidnappings within Ughelli, Warri, Sapele and its environs in Oghara community, Ethiope-West Local Government Area of the state.

The Police also recovered guns and ammunition from the suspects who were arrested at different locations in Oghara, Koko and Sapele.

The suspects who are members of Eiye Confraternity were arrested by a Police Special team deployed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda on 9/5/2024.

The team acting on a technically generated intelligence was led by ASP Julius Robinson.

The police also recovered weapons from the suspects, including an automatic pump action gun and one new AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine.

Delta State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe confirmed the development in a statement signed and made available to DAILY POST.

He said the police special team stormed Oghara town on 9/5/2024 at about 0430hrs and arrested a 28 years old suspect who is a member of Eiye confraternity.

According to SP Edafe, “The suspect led the operatives to a hotel in koko Junction Oghara where another suspect aged 46 years and a member of Eiye confraternity was arrested and an automatic Pump Action gun was recovered from him.

“Consequently, upon further interrogation of the two suspects, they led the operatives to the arrest of another 32 years old suspect in Sapele Delta State where one new AK-47 rifle with and an empty magazine were recovered.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that suspects are linked to a series of kidnappings in Ughelli, Warri, Sapele, and the environs.

“The suspects are in custody and investigation is ongoing.”
