Gunmen kill three in Ebonyi community
Gunmen numbering about four on Saturday evening, attacked Akpoha community along the Afikpo/Amasiri road in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, killing three persons.
Sources named the victims as Egwu Nicholas Nwocha, Emmanuel Nwocha, a member of the defunct Ebubeagu security outfit, and Inya Blessing Orieoma, a trader in the area.
Some other persons were reported to have sustained varying degrees of injuries during the unprovoked attack.
An eyewitness account revealed that the gunmen operated with two motorcycles with and AK-47 rifles.
When contacted, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident.
He said operatives are on the trail of the assailants.
“The bodies of the three persons killed have been deposited at the morgue and the place is calm now, our men are on the trail of the gunmen,” he said.
