Lagos SDP candidate vows to unseat ruling APC in 2027

Femi Olaniyi-Ferrari, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Lagos State, has vowed to challenge the ruling party in the 2027 elections.

Olaniyi-Ferrari made the pledge in an interview in Lagos on Monday, saying the SDP would offer alternative leadership focused on residents’ welfare, accountability and the state’s socio-economic challenges.

“Our mission is to end the dominance of the ruling party in Lagos and provide an alternative that puts the people first.

“We believe that residents deserve leadership that listens to them and responds to their needs.

“It is unhealthy to have one political party ruling Lagos State for years. A change is deserved,” he said.

He said the party would intensify grassroots mobilisation and engage residents to communicate its plans and attract support ahead of the elections.

He urged eligible voters to examine the policies and programmes of political parties before making their choices at the polls.

Olaniyi-Ferrari said the SDP would prioritise transparency, economic opportunities, social welfare and sustainable development.

“We want Lagosians to understand that democracy gives them the power to choose their leaders.

“Their votes can determine the direction of governance and the future they desire for the state,” he said.

He added that the party would continue engaging communities across Lagos to identify residents’ concerns and develop solutions to their challenges.

The candidate expressed confidence in the party’s ability to mobilise support across the state and urged residents to participate actively in the electoral process.

“Our goal is to build a Lagos where public resources are managed responsibly, opportunities are accessible to all and government policies reflect the aspirations of the people,” he said.
