The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects over firearm possession and recovered a locally fabricated pistol with two rounds of live ammunition.
In a statement on Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the suspects were arrested on Sunday at about 10:30 p.m. during a patrol along Sokoto Road.
He said police officers attached to the Farm Centre division intercepted a tricycle on reasonable suspicion.
“Upon an on-the-spot search, one Rufai Ahmed ‘M’, 19 years old, of Hotoro Quarters, Kano, was found with a bag containing one locally fabricated revolver pistol with two (2) rounds of live ammunition,” he said.
Kiyawa said the suspect was immediately arrested and the firearm and ammunition recovered.
He added that following a discreet investigation, the police arrested another suspect, Aliyu Ibrahim ‘M’, 19, of Kawo Quarters, Kano, in connection with the case.
