March 2nd declared as Burna Boy’s Day
In another historic move, the City of Boston has announced March 2 as official Burna Boy Day, with the inaugural celebration slated for Saturday, March 2nd, 2024.
In a press release from Councillor Ruthzee Louijeune, the city acknowledged Burna Boy’s musical contributions to the advancement of African culture and ideas. The press statement also emphasised Burna Boy’s advocacy activities and inspired thought-provoking discussions about equality, representation, and social justice.
The City of Boston honours the contributions of Nigerians, the largest African immigrant group in the United States and Massachusetts, in preserving the country’s cultural diversity.
Burna Boy becomes the third Nigerian musician in the United States to have an official day, following Wizkid and Davido.
