I’m yet to start earning from singing – Whitemoney

Whitemoney, Big Brother Naija Season 6 winner-turned-musician, has revealed that he has not been benefiting from music.

The reality star stated this in his recent interview with BBC Igbo.

Giving insights into his music career, he explained that music streaming had not proven to be a profitable avenue for him.

He further emphasized that he might not have a ‘fine’ voice, but his focus is on delivering meaningful content rather than conforming to conventional standards.

He however stated that he got paid for musical performances but the same could not be said of his music on streaming platforms.

BBNaija: I’ll win Grammy by God’s grace, says Whitemoney

“The truth is singing has not started paying me because I don’t get money from streaming, but I get money from performances. I don’t have the best voice but I have a message and melody.

“People criticize me, even those paid to criticize me. What you need to know is that I don’t sing to make you feel fine because you don’t feed or fund my musical career,” Whitemoney added.

Among the many songs he has produced are “Rosemary,” “Your Life,” and “My Heart.”

His song “Selense,” which was produced by Masterkraft, was released in December 2021.

The performer declared that year that he hoped to win a Grammy.

The singer also called out people who were comparing him with previous contestants who had also pursued a career in music.

“A lot of hate comments come around, but by this time next year I’ll get a Grammy,” Whitemoney had said.
