Idris Elba, Mo Abudu team up for Nigerian short film

Hollywood actor Idris Elba is set to direct Dust to Dreams, a Lagos-based short film, in partnership with Nigerian filmmaker Mo Abudu.

According to a report by Deadline published on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, the film is a partnership between Abudu’s EbonyLife Films and the African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank) through its Creative Africa Nexus (Canex).

The movie ‘Dust to Dreams’ looks into the relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter when she sees her father for the first time.

Nollywood actors Nse Ikpe-Etim, Eku Edewor, Atlanta Bridget Johnson, and former Nigerian Idol competitor Constance Olatunde are among the film’s cast members, in addition to British-Nigerian music icon Seal.

Speaking on the project, Abudu said, “I am delighted to be working with Afreximbank and this incredibly talented team. Dust to Dreams is a story close to my heart, and I’m thrilled to bring it to life with such passionate collaborators,” Abudu said of the project.”

Elba also said, “I have always been passionate about using my platform to make a positive impact. By partnering with Mo, we aim to offer free, world-class industry education to the next generation of storytellers and bring their authentic voices to the forefront.”
