Mechanical engineers tasked on professional development

Nigerian mechanical engineers have reiterated their commitment to the professional development principles of its members in “a continuously evolving business landscape.”

This was stated by the newly inaugurated 16th National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NiMech), Engr. Alhassan Abdul Mohammed, in Abuja.

Engr. Mohammed succeeded the immediate past national chairman, Engr. Mrs. Olufunmilade Akingbagbohun.

He said the mechanical engineers institute must ensure that its members are equipped with the latest knowledge, skills and tools to thrive in our dynamic environment.

Mohammed stated that as custodians of mechanical engineering principles, among his focus would be the development of codes and standards that reflect the highest benchmarks of quality and safety.

He said it is the duty of mechanical engineers, known for their adherence to highest ethical and professional standards, to contribute to the formulation and enhancement of industry standards that not only meet but exceed global expectations.

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) President, represented by Dep. Pres. Engr. Ali Rabiu, in his remarks, lauded the goal of the new Chairman, saying the professional development arm of NSE is more of research, and called on leaders of various branches not to be distracted from their mandate.
