Huawei to train students in 21 polytechnics on ICT skills

Huawei Technologies Company (Nigeria) Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to train hundreds of students across 21 polytechnics on the latest ICT skills.  

The Chinese technology company also signed a MOU with the University of Port Harcourt to equip its students with the latest skills in ICT. 

Speaking at the event held in Abuja yesterday, Deputy Managing Director of Huawei Technologies, Stephen Zou, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s talent development ecosystem. 

“We gather to connect with our valued academic partners, brought together by the Huawei ICT Talent Ecosystem. This collaborative framework aims to foster strong ties in ICT talent cultivation and development, which is crucial for advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation,” Zou said. 

The Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof. Idris Bugaje, who spoke at the event, said the collaboration would help in the dual certification of students, which is expected to provide them with hands-on certification.
