Firm lights up Yaba Tech, donates over 100 solar power stations

Ina bid to enhance the academic activities of students of Yaba College of Technology (YabaTech) in Lagos, an energy firm, Bluetti has donated 100 E-40 series solar home systems through its ‘Lighting an African Family (LAAF) project’.

The LAAF project is BLUETTI’s corporate social responsibility with the objective of providing solar-powered lighting solutions that are both cost-effective and environmentally friendly to underprivileged African families. The students of the Yaba College of technology became the first beneficiaries in Nigeria.

During the donation, which was held at YabaTech, a tech influencer who explained the importance of the product to students, Mr Odeyemi Tolulope averred that the solar home system would solve the challenge of poor electricity supply.

He maintained that developing solar power generation is important for Nigeria in view of the epileptic nature of power supply.

“Nigeria is a country with abundant solar resources but perturbed by serious electricity theft and catastrophic grid outages, which have frequently drawn its people into darkness and hindered economic prosperity,” he said.

According to Tolulope, the power stations provided for the students will make them more productive, especially when there is power outage; as it will avail them the opportunity to continue reading or engage in other productive activities.

Representative of the Rector of Yabatech and the Director for TetFund Centre of Excellence in Skills and Entrepreneurship & Sustainable Development, Architect Sherifdeen Ayodele, expressed delight over the donation by BLUETTI, saying, the solar will go a long way in assisting the students in their daily campus life routine.
