The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Mr. Zacch Adedeji as the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
Adedeji was confirmed following a majority decision by senators after he was screened during plenary session on Tuesday.
Speaking on his plans to improve the nation’s revenue, Adedeji promised to improve the data mining capacity to make appropriate tax decision.
He attributed revenue leakages to the dearth of information on the finances of firms in the oil and gas sector.
Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nomination of Mr. Shaakaa Chira for appointment as the Auditor-General for the Federation.
Tinubu had earlier approved Mr. Chira’s appointment after the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) conducted a screening exercise that identified him as the most qualified candidate who had also scored the highest in the examination amongst all qualified candidates for the office.
