Reuben Fasoranti, leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has died at 100, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa said.
Aiyedatiwa announced the death of the elder statesman in a statement on Tuesday.
“With a heavy heart but with total submission to the will of God, I announce the passing of our revered elder statesman, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, who departed this world at the glorious age of 100,” Mr Aiyedatiwa said.
He described the deceased as a patriarch whose life was marked by a commitment to the development of Ondo State, Yorubaland and Nigeria.
The governor extended his condolences to the Fasoranti family, the people of Akure Kingdom and the state, saying the late leader had left an enduring legacy for future generations.
He also prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul on behalf of the state government and its people.
