‘Deliver your polling unit, ward, LG or forget victory,’ Wike tells APC supporters

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged supporters of President Bola Tinubu in Abuja to deliver their polling units in the 2027 general elections.

Wike gave the directive on Saturday at an endorsement rally organised by the FCT Stakeholders Assembly in support of Tinubu.

The stakeholders also endorsed Philip Aduda for the FCT Senate seat, John Gabaya for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency and Danladi Chiya for Abuja South Federal Constituency.

Addressing the gathering, Wike urged supporters to take responsibility for securing victory for the president at the polling-unit, ward and local government levels.

Under the slogan, “Operation Deliver Your Polling Unit,” he said individual contributions to the party’s electoral performance would be measured by results at the grassroots.

“Deliver your polling unit, deliver your ward, deliver your local government. I don’t want to hear ‘I lost my polling unit, but we won.’ There is no grammar like that.

“If you lose your polling unit, don’t tell me you won, because you never contributed to the victory,” he said.

Wike also questioned the accessibility and performance of some serving National Assembly members, urging voters to support candidates with records of community engagement.

He described Aduda as a trusted figure who could protect the interests of FCT residents if elected to the Senate.

The minister also highlighted what he described as reforms and incentives introduced under Tinubu’s administration to strengthen local governance and traditional institutions in the FCT.

He said official sport utility vehicles would be distributed to traditional rulers before December in recognition of their role in maintaining peace.

On the Rainbow Coalition, Wike said the arrangement was intended to unite political parties behind Tinubu without requiring them to relinquish their political identities.

He commended the FCT chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for supporting the initiative, describing it as an avenue for political cooperation beyond party affiliations.

Earlier, Aliyu Kwali, president of the FCT Stakeholders Assembly, said the rally was organised to appreciate infrastructure development across the territory’s six area councils under Wike’s leadership.

He cited projects including bypass routes connecting Gude to Kwali and Abaji.

Kwali said the group was targeting one million votes for Tinubu in the FCT in the 2027 elections.

“We have come here to tell the whole world that come January 16, 2027, we shall deliver one million votes for Tinubu,” he said.

Also speaking, Abdullahi Candido, FCT coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, described Wike’s appointment as minister as a blessing to Abuja, saying the Tinubu administration had brought democratic dividends and government closer to the people.

He pledged the movement’s support for Tinubu’s re-election.
