2027: Atiku’s ex-aide urges non-indigenes in Ogun to support Tinubu’s reelection

Segun Sowunmi, former aide to ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has urged non-indigenes in Ogun to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s reelection.

Sowunmi ‌made the call in Abeokuta on Saturday while addressing representatives of various non-indigenous groups in Ogun, including Igbo Youth Association, Igede, Tiv, Calabar, Edo, Arewa and Igala communities.

He described the 2027 presidential election as an “election of life” and urged the groups to ensure massive turnout and support for Tinubu.

Sowunmi appealed to the groups to mobilise voters across Ogun Central, Ogun East and Ogun West for Tinubu during the election.

He said Ogun Central had over one million registered voters, urging residents to work toward delivering the highest possible number of votes to Tinubu.

“I am begging you in the name of God Almighty, let us mobilise until, if possible, we take the whole one million votes for Tinubu,” he said.

Sowunmi also urged voters in Ogun West, which he said had over 900,000 registered voters, to mobilise massively for Tinubu.

“Tinubu’s performance should be considered in deciding whether he deserves another term, rather than allowing political differences to determine voting decisions.

“Non-indigenes should regard Ogun as their home because many have lived peacefully and prospered in the state without discrimination.

“The prosperity and peaceful environment enjoyed by residents should encourage them to support the continued development of the state and the country,” he said.

Sowunmi urged the groups to return to their communities and mobilise their members to vote massively for Tinubu and other candidates supporting his administration.

Sowunmi said the 2027 election should be used to make a strong statement that no individual or ethnic group was more important than another in Nigeria.

In his remarks, Francis Nwaeze, chairman, Non-Indigene Association of Ogun State, Egba Zone, called for a rally which would enable the wider public to see the strength of the support base working for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.
