At least 20 players have arrived at the Super Eagles’ camp in Ikot Ikpene, Akwa Ibom, ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The players include Simon Moses, Akor Adams, Taiwo Awoniyi, Isaac James, Emmanuel Fernandez, Benjamin Fredericks, Moses Uzor, and George Ilenikhena.
Others are Arthur Okonkwo, Alex Iwobi, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, Ademola Lookman, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Chibuike Nwaiwu.
Tolu Arokodare, Bruno Onyemaechi, Raphael Onyedika, and Frank Onyeka complete the 20 players currently in camp.
Promise Efoghe, Super Eagles Media Officer, told reporters that Wilfred Ndidi, Samuel Chukwueze and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali were expected to arrive around noon.
“Camp opened today, and preparations have commenced for the qualifiers,” Efoghe said.
The Super Eagles will begin their qualifying campaign against Madagascar in Uyo on September 25, before travelling to face Guinea-Bissau on September 29.
Nigeria is also scheduled to play Russia in an international friendly on October 6.
Efoghe said the team’s first training session would hold on Tuesday, with the opening 15 minutes available to accredited media.
He added that all players would be available for exclusive interviews on Wednesday at the team’s base in Ikot Ikpene.
Efoghe said the exact time for Wednesday’s media engagements will be communicated later.
