Serie A: He made me look at football differently — Lookman praises Gasperini

Ademola Lookman has credited Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini for his impressive performance at the club.

Lookman made the switch to the Gewiss Stadium from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig two years ago.

The Nigerian made an instant impact at the club, emerging as the top scorer during the 2022–23 season.

The 26-year-old has further underlined his importance to the club this season.

Lookman has so far scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in 43 matches across all competitions for La Dea this term.

The winger caught the eye with a hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday night.

Responding to a question on Gasperini’s best quality, Lookman told UEFA.com: “His intensity. From the training and the conversations you have with him, you understand what he expects of you.

“The first conversations I had with him made me look at football a lot differently. It made things simple. It allowed me to play my game in a different light. I’m very grateful to him.”
