Nigerians Encourage Mr Eazi to Invest in NPFL Club
Nigerian music star and executive, Oluwatosin Ajibade, better known as Mr Eazi, has sparked excitement among Nigerian football fans after expressing his interest in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). On Tuesday, the 33-year-old artist took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that he had his “eyes on NPFL,” which quickly generated a flood of responses from fans and influencers.
Many Nigerians took the opportunity to suggest that Mr Eazi invest in or buy a club in the league. One user, @wene084, urged the singer to consider buying Rivers United, saying, “You were born and raised in PH. Come and buy Rivers United please.” Another influencer, Abaz Whyllzz, suggested Akwa United, a former league champion, as a potential investment, writing, “Come and buy Akwa United abeg.”
One X user, @emmache77, went a step further by offering a detailed plan for how Mr Eazi could invest in the NPFL. The user advised the music executive to buy a club and collaborate with foreign teams from countries like Norway, Belgium, and Romania, with the goal of creating an academy and selling players to European clubs. The user emphasized that, with time, this approach could lead to significant financial success while providing local talents the opportunity to showcase their skills in Europe.

Mr Eazi’s previous involvement in football includes a $6 million investment in sponsoring the Ghana Premier League in 2022, although the deal was later canceled. His latest comments suggest he may be looking to expand his involvement in the Nigerian football scene.
The 2024/25 NPFL season is currently on a mid-season break, with action set to resume this weekend. Rangers International are the defending champions, while Enyimba FC, with nine league titles, is the most successful club in the country.
