Federation Cup win over Gombe United well planned – Wolves striker Okunlola
Warri Wolves striker Sodiq Okunlola, said the team’s victory in the Federation Cup Round of 16 against Gombe United was a worked out plan.
The Seasiders defeated NPFL side Gombe United 1-0 through Okunlola’s 89th minute strike at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch Abuja on Wednesday.
Okunola, who came in as a substitute in the first-half, said he capitalised on the shaky display of the opposition defenders to score his goal.
“While off the field I noticed that one of the defenders from the opponent had always gambled with passes,” he began in a chat with the club’s media.
“So when the pass was crossed, I just had to chase him down because I knew he was going to gamble.”
Warri Wolves have played in the final once, losing on penalties to Enyimba.
