EPL: ‘He’s a goner’ – Ex-Chelsea striker criticizes Ten Hag

Former Chelsea striker, Chris Sutton, has criticized Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag following his assertive comments in the aftermath of the Red Devils’ FA Cup victory last weekend.

Sutton argued that Ten Hag has already lost his grip on the situation amid ongoing speculation about his future at Old Trafford.

Recall that Ten Hag silenced his detractors by guiding Manchester United to a 2-1 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25, concluding the season on a positive note.

In a post-match interview with Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer on Sky Sports, the Dutchman addressed whether he feels he has been unfairly treated by the media amidst rumours of his possible departure.

The former Ajax coach defended himself, stating that the media criticism has been unjust.

However, Sutton was not pleased with Ten Hag’s defense.

Speaking on Mail Sport’s It’s All Kicking Off! podcast, Sutton said:

“He [Ten Hag] staunchly defended himself over the weekend. I thought he was quite emotional at times and he does seem to be a good bloke.

“But the bottom line is that towards the end of the season, I think he knows he’s a goner.”
