Borussia Dortmund Sacks Manager Nuri Sahin After Champions League Defeat
Borussia Dortmund has parted ways with their manager, Nuri Sahin, following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Bologna in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The German Bundesliga club, which reached the Champions League final last season, is currently languishing in 13th place in the competition and 10th in the Bundesliga, trailing leaders Bayern Munich by 20 points.
Sahin, who took over as head coach last summer after Edin Terzic’s departure, expressed regret over his inability to meet the club’s high expectations for the season.

“Unfortunately, we have not managed to live up to Borussia Dortmund’s sporting ambitions this season,” Sahin stated in a club-issued release. “I wish this special club all the best.”
In the wake of Sahin’s departure, former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has emerged as a potential replacement, having visited Dortmund after leaving the Red Devils last October.
