We borrowed N100bn, spent over N90bn on infrastructure – Bauchi gov 

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has disclosed that his administration has so far borrowed N100 billion and spent over N90 billion for the execution of infrastructural projects across the state.  

The governor started this Wednesday while addressing Commissioners and other members of the State Executive Council Meeting at the Exco Chamber of Government House.

“You can see the projects and programs we have just started. We have borrowed N100 billion and today the projects alone for the infrastructure is getting to over ninety something billion.”

“We are not thieves, we are not here take anything out of the system. We want to take back every kobo and of course, we are going to save something for education and health. We are saving something from the little money we are getting from Federal Government so that we can leverage on this loan to do infrastructure alone.”

The governor noted that there was little distraction here and there, “But we will not allow ourselves to be distracted even the last time when we have COVID-19 and other serious distractions we were able to work, so we should hit the ground working and i am happy the commissioners have done that because this is where to go.”

“I am still urging the commissioner of budget and planning to come up with the KPIs for all the commissioners so that they will know where we are and where we want to go and how we would go and they will be so guided; I learnt they have been working on it; may be at the end of the day, we will sign performance bound; that’s between me and my commissioners.

“The commissioners will go and sign with their permanent secretaries and if the permanent secretaries like, they can sign with their directors and that is how we will enforce discipline and extract productivity from seemingly unmotivated services

“We will try our best to pay salaries as we are doing all the time, wages and other allowances and we will sent people for training and we most carry the bureaucracy alone but we have to be careful not to leave everything for them.”
