Fayose Urges Unity in Ekiti PDP to Ensure Party’s Survival

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has expressed concern over the ongoing division and internal conflicts within the Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Addressing his supporters in Ado-Ekiti ahead of the PDP congress in July, Fayose emphasized the importance of unity and the need to keep the party functional.

Fayose appealed to party members to set aside their differences and avoid politics of bitterness to ensure the PDP’s success in the upcoming gubernatorial election. “I have come to tell you that the PDP must not die in Ekiti State. I want you to have peace; please, don’t destroy my personality,” he urged.

Acknowledging the efforts of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Fayose praised his achievements and humility, noting that Oyebanji had visited him multiple times in Lagos to discuss the state’s progress. Despite his respect for the governor, Fayose asserted that the PDP would confront Oyebanji during the election period.

Fayose also called for an end to factionalism within the party, stating, “Let there be no Olujimi, Fayose, Bisi K, Duro Faseyi factions in PDP, let us work for peace so that we will be able to win elections in the state.” He pledged to visit all local government areas and support them with logistics for the election campaign.

Highlighting his continued influence in Ekiti politics, Fayose reminded his supporters of his past achievements and his support for Asiwaju in the last presidential election. “If you say Fayose does not matter, wait, during the election you will see,” he concluded.
