Edo Assembly Warns Obaseki Against Constitutional Violations

As the Edo State Governorship election draws nearer, the state Factional Speaker of House of Assembly, Victor Edoror said there will be zero tolerance of constitutional provisions violations from the incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

The Edo Factional Speaker noted that the house will not hesitate to impeach the sitting Governor if found wanting of any constitutional violations.

Edoror disclosed this after his faction met at an undisclosed address at the Government Reserved Area of the state.

“If they refuse to carry out our instructions, it has huge constitutional implications. I don’t think they can afford to make that mistake.

“We are not ready to impeach, unless they demand it by trying to flout provisions of the constitution. You cannot just impeach anybody unless he commits an offence

“We can’t impeach anyone who does not go against the law. Offences must have been committed, constitutional provisions must have been violated before talking about impeachment. For us, we don’t intend to impeach anyone.”

“He praised members of the faction for a rancour-free deliberation, adding,” He said.

While speaking on his factions’ intentions for the people of Edo State, Edoror assures them dividends of democracy and quality service.

“We are going to make sure that the people of Edo receive the dividends of democracy. We are not out to impeach anybody contrary to what is being peddled around. We are out to give legislation to the people and provide quality service. We have no ulterior motive.”
