UN Volunteers laud NDE’s job creation initiatives
The International Organisations of United Nations (UN) Volunteers have commended the job creation and skills development initiatives of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), which aims at engendering social justice and tackling inequality.
The Director of Volunteer Affairs, Organisation of UN Volunteers, Ambassador Luke Jacob, gave the commendation yesterday in Abuja as part of its activities to commemorate the World Day of Social Justice.
He said the World Day of Social Justice was an international day recognising the need to promote social justice, which includes efforts to tackle issues, such as poverty, economic exclusion, gender inequality, unemployment, human rights and social protection.
Jacob said the United Nations and its affiliates like the International Organisations of UN Volunteers set aside the day to make statements on the importance of social justice and present plans for greater social justice by tackling poverty, social and economic exclusion and poverty.

The group commended the NDE under the leadership of its Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo for the various interventions in job creations through vocational development, entrepreneurship development, agricultural skills training and public works programme to address youth unemployment, social inequality and poverty.
Ambassador Jacob called on other agencies and governments at all levels to do more in bringing succour to Nigerians from the many challenges bedeviling them.
