Offer prayers for a peaceful, cohesive Nigeria – Northern senators

The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has asked Nigerians to offer prayers for a peaceful and cohesive Nigeria.

Chairman of the Forum, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yara’dua, in a statement to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr, also asked Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of brotherhood, extend individual and communal support, contribute to nation-building and offer prayers for the welfare of the country and its leadership.

He said Nigerians should be reminded of the nation’s collective obligation to combat injustice, immorality, unfairness, corruption, and inequality.

The statement reads in part, “Let us persist in our endeavors to foster a peaceful and cohesive society that cherishes the principles of liberty, human dignity, and prosperity for all.

“It is incumbent upon us collectively to offer prayers for our dear President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, and the leadership of our nation at every echelon as we strive to enhance our national fortunes and uplift the standard of living for all Nigerians.

“Let us champion justice, patriotism, and dignity in all our pursuits. Remember, no situation lasts forever, and by fulfilling our respective roles effectively, we can propel our nation towards a brighter future.”

Similarly, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has urged Muslims to continue to offer prayers for peace, unity and prosperity of Nigeria.

Akpabio in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, said “Islam is a religion of peace and if its adherents go to Allah in prayers with sincerity, He will surely answer.

“I therefore ask you to pray for your leaders and the peace and unity of our dear country. I believe with your prayers, Nigeria will overcome its current challenges.

“Wherever you find yourselves, radiate the peace that Islam preaches and the love and care for the less privileged that Prophet Muhammad exemplified.”
