Nurses, midwives protest killing of member by unknown assailant

Members of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Abia State chapter have staged a protest to condemn the gruesome murder of one of its members identified as Mrs. Queeneth Alozie.

Alozie was said to have been murdered on Sunday April  25, in her house at Enyinnaya Ogbulafor Drive, opposite BCA, Umuahia by yet-to-be identified killers.

Speaking to some journalists, the state Chairperson of NANNM, Comrade Ugochi Akoma, described the killing as barbaric.

On her part, Chairperson of NANNM, FMC unit Mrs. Stella Onwumah, said the family of the late Mrs Alozie reported to them that she was killed by unknown men and called on the state government to ensure that heath workers are protected even in the discharge their duties.

While calling on the government and security agents to fish out the perpetrator of the crime for justice to prevail, the leadership of the association of nurses advised nurses, midwives and other health workers to be security conscious both at home and work places.
